The sand dunes of Maspalomas are one of the major visitor attractions on southern Gran Canaria. Colours varied across the huge expanse of dunes caused by grain size and moisture. The regular intricate patterns are totally natural (being wind-formed) but look more like the totally man-made manicured Zen garden patterns of the orient.
